Can you make money with a part time home based fly tying business?
I am very good with small detailed crafts . I dont know why.... but I came across 'fly tying' . I think it is making lures or bait for fishermen. Is there a call for this type process? Could I make money with a home based business. Or do fishermen like to make their own flys? I know that often Craftspeople work long and hard on a creation , only to sell it for very little profit. Is there a market for this type of business, and can i make some decent money in the process?
There is money to be made at tying flies. Get yourself a copy of "Production Fly Tying" by A.K. Best. It has lots of great ideas about all kinds of things in. One I use all the time along with other "recipe" books. Good Luck and Go For It!
Flyflinger is correct, it is tough. I do make the most tying classic salmon flies then mounting them in a shadowbox and selling that.
