fixing my leaky chest waders.?
I've had this leak right in the crotch of my chest waders for about a year and a half now and Ive tried just about everything. Patches on the inside and outside of the waders, adhesive glue in side and out and on all the seams around the crotch area. Ive tried the flashlight trick and the water trick but I still can't find the dang hole. Lately I've tried cocking but I don't know if it's going to work yet. The hole must be very small because it will slowly start to soak me and take about 5-10 min. to get my pants wet. Can anybody help me on this one?
They are hunting chest waders I bought from a cabela store in Idaho. They are 800 gram and 3.5mm think. I could send them in for a new pair, but I figured with all the shipping and what not I might as well buy new ones. This Is why I was wondering is anyone knew how to fix this problem.
Using a buddy for this makes it easier!
Fill the waders up with air and seal up the top.
Mix up some warm water and dawn soap in a mop bucket and rub down one spot at a time.
Squeeze the waders tightly while both of you look for the air to blow bubbles at the problem spot.
Bicycle tire patches work marvelously for this, but waterproof tent tape couple with Aquaseal works even better. You can even get UV Aquaseal that cures in mere seconds when exposed to the sun.
I hope this helps! I just fixed my waders! I PROMISE that you can be back to dry fishing for well under $20 and add new life to your waders. At least for long enough to buy a new pair if you can't spring the cash right now!
